Aloha from Maui

Todd and I are currently enjoying some 1 on 1 time in Maui. We enjoy vacationing in September, as it's usually off season and therefore cheaper to go just about anywhere. Todd celebrated his big 42nd birthday here on the 10th!

Before we left town, my mom and grandma picked up a birthday cake for him and made a yummy dinner. There was a certain little girl that couldn't wait to get her hands on daddy's cake. She is just like her daddy and loves sweets.

We are staying at the Westin Maui Resort and Spa. It's absolutely gorgeous. The lobby is all open air with huge waterfalls. There are flamingos and all kinds of fish to look at.

On Todd's birthday, the 10th, we just lounged by the pool for a couple of hours and then went to eat dinner at the Aloha Mixed Plate. I read reviews of this little open air restaurant that sits by the water. It's super affordable, as in $10 or so a person, and very yummy. The food on the menu is typical authentic Hawaiian food with lau lau, rice, a local macaroni salad, and coconut rice pudding. I wasn't too adventurous and stuck with a fish sandwich.

View from the Aloha Mixed Plate.
Baby Stephenson enjoyed the yummy dinner and view too.
After eating, we went to Whaler's Village (right next to our resort). That is a huge open air mall area with nice stores and restaurants. There was a dance recital that was being put on by a local dance studio. It was so neat seeing the young girls doing the hula dance. Lauren would have loved it!
